Every other week we'll introduce a different city in Canada with a list of great restaurant recommendations that you can check out. Today Andrew Coppolino of Waterloo Region Eats takes a look at some of the restaurants he visited at the weekend. Elizabethan, "which he published with his colleague Mark Morton at the University of Kitchener and Waterloo, and is the author of several books on the history of food in Waterloo and the region.
The ingenuity is inventive, with a wide selection of dishes from local and international chefs as well as some of the best craft beers in town.
At Proof Kitchen & Lounge in Waterloo, managing director Laura Umbrio estimates that a high percentage want to be outside. Despite the qualifications, she says, the restaurant's preference is far from eating outside, although the younger ones don't seem to have a problem being inside. Ryan Lloyd-Craig says the weather is a definite determinant, although he sees an older demographic preferring to stay indoors, with a higher percentage of people in their late 20s and early 30s
We have daily deals, although lunch and dinner deals ($5- $10 per person per day) are clearly the most popular. But the best deal is our Lunch Special, where you can enjoy a sandwich, salad and glass of wine for just $15.
If you can't resist cooking pasta from scratch, plan a dinner date at 271 West for just $10 per person for the day or $15 for dinner. You do not need to make a lunch appointment as we do not accept reservations for dinner in the evening.
If you want to increase your chances of getting a seat, I should definitely go early on a Monday, a quiet day, and enjoy a cocktail. If you're looking for something sweet in life, head to one of our local bakeries for a quick lunch or dinner.
You are likely to come here for a slice, and even if you don't, you have plenty of other things to offer, including homemade pasta, paninis, antipasti and more. Most meals are vegan at first, but some dishes are adaptable, whether you are vegetarian or vegan, to ensure you have something to eat on the menu.
Everything, including ice cream, is homemade - made and gluten-free - as well as churros, which are prepared in a special deep fryer. However, roast rabbit is one of the most popular dishes on the menu, and the white rabbit cabbage is perfect for later in the evening.

The only downside is that when the menu changes seasonally, you can see some of your favorites disappear. In the current situation, the restaurant can stay closed for a few weeks and only make take-out offers. We can't do much other than hope they return in a revived form, so keep up to date for updates.
