The 50th annual Kitchener - Waterloo Oktoberfest takes place from October 5 to 13, 2018 in the heart of the historic city centre. Beer, bands and Bavarian bragging are the focus of the beer and brass music festival and everything that Bavarian bravado as Kitcheners Waterloo will do from 4 to 5 October 2017 with its 50,000 visitors to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the band's 60-year existence.

Doon Heritage Village is also covered by tickets to the Waterloo Region Museum, so visitors who have already purchased tickets will find themselves at the Waterloo Region Museum and experience the history of cuisine come to life. There are so many great things to do and new things and events keep popping up, you could go scavenger hunting or enjoy a bit of history. The city also lists a lot of public art, much of which, if there is a map, is in and around the city centre.

Note that I have compiled a list of six free activities in the Kitchener - Waterloo area (KW) that you can view when you come to the University of Waterloo. If you only have one day off, it is a must to come back and see all the other places that the Kitcheners and Waterloo region has to offer. The city is great and it's only an hour from Toronto, so stop at BATL between Waterloo and KitchenER / Waterloo! Go out and enjoy the best of both seasons in and around Waterloo, and while you visit and look around this wonderful area, you don't need access to a better level of transport services.

The Huron Natural Area in Kitchener is also a great place to spend some time in the woods, bathing and thinking. Waterloo is flat, which means there's a lot to do, but there are some great hiking trails that pump blood into your veins, especially as it's just an hour and a half from Toronto. Although the trail starts in West Montrose and then crosses Waterloo, Kitcheners and Cambridge before joining a path that can take you to Hamilton, this is more of a walking trail than a bike path.
